Band Unlocked

Should I buy an international, unlocked, tri-band phone for use in the U.S.?
I found a phone on Amazon.com that I want that is unlocked and international. However, I will only be using it in the U.S. Will that matter at all? I have T-Mobile, will they charge me hidden fees or anything? I want a cell phone that I will simply be able to put my existing T-Mobile SIM card in and use immediately with no change to my plan. Please help. Thanks!
T-Mobile has no problem with you bringing your own phone to the party. In fact, if you do that, you can get special pricing on your service that is less than you are likely paying right now.
Keep in mind, if the phone is a “smart phone” (Android, windows mobile, blackberry, iphone etc.) you usually *must* have an unlimited data plan to go with it.
Call T-Mobile and speak to them. Give them the model of the phone you are looking at and they can verify it will work on their network, and can give you pricing for their new “supply your own phone” plans as well as tell you if you will be required to have a data plan for the phone to be activated on their network.
