In Water SCADA or Telemetry which is the better communication medium?
In India most of the SCADA or Telemetry vendors are trying to push Radio or Vsat medium for the water pipeline applications. In any water SCADA most of the sytem parameters are fairly constant over a period of time? Will not a dial up (PSTN, WLL, GSM or CDMA) as a medium and report by exception or sequential polling be sufficient for the purpose
You are correct. If your system parameters don’t change very much, the dial up connections will work fine. Radio and Vsat are the newest technologies, so the vendors make the most money selling them.
